Important Point about Nalanda & Gaya :
1. Nalanda University was founded in 5th Century CE*.
2. Nalanda was abandoned during 13th Century CE (from 1197-1206)by Turkic attacker Bakhtiyar Khilji.
3. According to Xuansang(also known as hiuen tsang, stayed 2 years) & Yijing(stayed 14 years), Nalanda was built in honor of the Lotus Sutra(It's called final teaching of Lord Budha)
4. Other ancient Universities are : Taxila/Vikramshila/Pushpagiri/Jagaddala
5. Nalanda was Residential School which can accomodate 10,000 students and 2000 teachers.
6. Biharsharif is also reffered as Odantapura during Ancient nalanda University.
7. Odantapuri University was located at Biharsharif which was established during 7th Century C.E. This University was located at the foot of Bari Pahari according to Tibetan record.
8. Acharya Shri Ganga of Vikramashila was a student of Odantapuri University.
9. Odantapura is also called as Uddandapura which was established by Pala Emperor Gopala.
10. A tibetan historist name Ngakwang Kunga Sonam has mentioned about Odantapura in Kalchakra tantra.
